POOIL VAAISH BLACK LIMESTONE

Sonic Stone proudly partnerships with Pooil Vaaish Quarry, bringing you the ultimate, one-of-a-kind and extremely rare material - Pooil Vaaish Black Limestone. Found exclusively on the Isle of Man, this hard-wearing limestone is known as ‘Manx Marble’ mainly because this distinctive black stone has shaped a secluded section of the Manx coastline over millennia. Pooil Vaaish Black Limestone has a unique inky black colour and displays similarities to those of marble and granite, rather than any other limestones, as most would expect.

This one-of-a-kind hard, carboniferous black stone is characterised by its occasional inclusions of rare fossil fragments, glints of rare pure iron pyrite and tiny calcite crystal veins that distinguish this marvellous stone from all other materials, making it incredibly scarce.

From striking accent flooring, timeless fireplaces, and sweeping staircases to grand archways and imposing gate pillars, all Pooil Vaaish stoneworks are unequivocally unique.

This unique stone, which when polished transforms from a matte grey to a highly reflective inky black, can be seen in St Paul’s Cathedral, Burberry Regent Street store, Premier Lounge at Kuwait Airport, Chapel Royal in Hampton Court Palace, Castle Rushen, The Old House of Keys, and Emmanuel College Chapel in Cambridge, to name but a few.
